Why Holguin?
“It is the most beautiful land ever seen by human eyes”, said Christopher Columbus in 1942
Holguin offers dazzling white sand beach, sparkling blue and green water and 900-metre coral reef.
Holguin is a “year-round” destination – winds blow almost all year round, creating pleasant temperature in an extraordinary setting where the unpolluted waters of the Atlantic Ocean bathe 22 coastal bays.
Where to stay?
While Holguin has accommodations for every taste and budget, we suggest you to stay in at least, a 3-plus star resort. Brisas Guardalavaca is located on the famous Guardalavaca Beach , this attractive resort is ideal for families, couples and honeymooners. Budget travellers can consider Club Amigo – it is just steps from the beach.
Guardalavaca – one of the most famous beaches not to be missed! This 58km beach offers luxuriant coral reefs, interesting cliffs and amazing vegetation! The area is ideal for water sports. West of the beach is Bahia de Naranjo, a natural park that comprises 32km of coastline and 1,000 ha of woods, with karst hills covered with thick vegetation. Cayo Naranjo, a small island in the bay of Bahia de Naranjo, has an aquarium featuring shows with sea lions and dolphins. Boat tours, diving and fishing trips can also be organized here. Loma de la Cruz (the Hill of the Cross) is one of the most famous attractions in the city. Founded 1950, the site features a 450 step stairway and offers marvellous views from the top. Every anniversary (May 3) is celebrated with a pilgrimage, masses and a multitude of dances.
Most of the packages to Holguin are all-inclusive – meals are included but you may want to spend some time and have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Get out and explore the local haunts – it’s fun!
