Why Manzanillo?
Is it because Manzanillo is the “Sword Fish World Capital”?
Thousands of people go to Manzanillo to fish each year so if you’re looking for action, excitement, challenge and adventure set in magnificent natural beauty – Manzanillo is the right place!
Manzanillo is generally tropical and warm – from 22 °C to 28°C. November is when the International Fishing Tournament is held so if you would like to join the crowd, this is the time!
Live to fish? Sailfish and marlin are abundant year round. Winter is best for dolphin fish and dorado (mahimahi) and in summer, wahoo and rooster fish are in great supply.
Where to stay?
While Manzanillo has accommodations for every taste and budget, we suggest you to stay in at least, a 4 star resort. Karmina Palace Resort is located adjacent to the Camino Real Las Hadas and the La Mantarraya Golf Course. Set amidst lush vegetation, waterfalls, cascading pools, stylish Mayan motifs and crosscut travertine marble, the resort promises to be one of Mexico ’s premier getaways. Club Maeva is a Mediterranean-style resort located on the Miramar beach and is spread over 90 landscaped acres of playground.
Manzanillo is a perfect family destination and is renowned for its excellent sailfish catch. Charters can easily be arranged upon arrival and normally depart from the marina at Las Hadas. A full day trip with tackle and guides runs around US$300-US$350 per boat. Make sure you bring your running shoes, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen lotion, camera, your CD player/ipod and some snacks with you.
Beach, beach, beach – Manzanillo has over 20 kilometers of untouched coastline so don’t miss out: Playa Miramar – at the north end of Bahia Santiago. This beach is popular with body surfers, wind surfers and boogie boarders; calmer waters toward Juluapan Peninsula at La Boquita beach.
Playa La Audiencia – beautiful cove along the north side of Santiago Peninsula ; fine beach for snorkeling and swimming.
Playa Azul – long wide stretch of golden sand between Las Hadas and downtown; relatively calm seas to the south with waves to the north.
Olas Altas – between Playa Santiago and Playa Miramar; area’s best surfing.
Playa de Oro – long golden sand beach with medium waves.
Playa San Pedrito – local’s favourite with calm surf and rustic palapa restaurants.
As most of the Manzanillo’ packages are all-inclusive, meals are included but if you can, take a night or two and try the local restaurants. La Huerta offers fresh seafood – one of Manzanillo’s best! Looking for real Mexican tacos - visit Tacos Julios.
How to get around?
To get around town, you can always find taxis in the hotel area. Taxis are harder to find after hours so please make special arrangements for your return trip, especially when you’re heading to those beaches that are more remote.
