It is conveniently located in the heart of Cancun surrounded by great dining, shopping and nightlife. Melia Turquesa is a beachfront resort and is located in the heart of the hotel zone.
What to do? Where to go?
Here are the “top-3” must-dos while in Cancun:
The Beach.
A vacation to Cancun, Mexico is not complete without a visit to the beach! The beaches of Cancun are the most popular attractions. The northern beaches are best for swimming; the eastern beaches have more crashing waves. Some of the most outstanding among the many available options are:
Towards the north: Las Perlas, Linda, Langosta, Tortugas and Caracol Towards the east: Chac-Mool and El Rey
All resorts we recommend in our Vacation Packages to Cancun are either on the beach or within close walking proximity.
Night time Cancun
Nightlife in Cancun is intense and goes on until dawn in its many discotheques and nightclubs. Visit “Corazone” – the non-stop partying zone! Coco Bongo and Daddy D’s are popular choices!
Isla Mujeres (“ Island of Women ”)
A small Caribbean island just 14km from Cancun that offers different activities like island exploration, water sports and animal watching. Spanish explorer, Francisco Hernandez de Cordova, landed on the island in 1517 and found feminine statues from which the island takes its name: “ Island of Women ”.
Where to eat?
As most of the vacation packages to Cancun are all-inclusive, meals are included. For the truly “Mexican experience”, take a night or two and try the local Mexican dishes. Senor Frogs, Carlos & Charlies are Canadian favourites.
How to get around in Cancun, Mexico?
To get around the vacation resort area, motorized transport is needed, since the resort and city are spread out. There is a public bus system that you can take in the daytime.
If you’re lucky, you might get some live entertainment – a group of kids may decide to give you a rendition of a few Mexican songs or may be a solo guitarist, and is nice if you can give them a few pesos as appreciation. At night, we recommend travelling by “taxi”. It is easy as taxis are all over the town but remember to negotiate the price upfront before you close the door. Getting from the top of the hotel strip to the bottom should cost about US$15.
Mopeds can be rented by the hour or day in Cancun, Mexico. Note that downtown can be quite congested, and is not recommended for inexperienced moped drivers.
